Anyone care to share a memory or two that you remember about Ian. I know that someday Josiah will really appreciate it!

Love that you posted pics. Josiah was SO little! I just don't believe our boys were every babies.

This is so random, but you know what sticks out to me? Ian was really good Trivial Pursuit!!

Ian was always so happy and proud of you and Josiah. I think my funniest memory of Ian was when we played "Pass the Pigs" and he and Kraig were battling to be the king porker!! It was just too funny.

Also, Dalton loved being around him so much. Remember at Halloween when he was a red power ranger, but had me paint a gotee on him 'just like Ian'!

I am so glad you posted the pics and shared your story. You are an amazing woman and we love you so much!

Ian was hilarious! And goofy, and great to be around!! Big Sexy, as Eric called him, could always crack me up. I loved his laugh! I'm still sad we never got to have our "white trash" date. I remember meeting him at Grace and how funny he was. I miss him today, and wish I could laugh with him one more time here on this earth, but I am looking forward to seeing him again some day and praising God together.

Hey Christi, just wanted to tell you that I'm praying for you today. It's hard to pick just one or two memories of Ian, but know that we're thinking of him and remembering him today.

you guys came to visit and ian and i went to the mavs game. they played against his fave team, the pacers, and it was his first nba game to go to. we had great seats and had an amazing time. it was the first time i ever really spent time with him, and got to know him. you guys headed back to kansas early the next day, so i didnt get to say bye. that was the last time i saw him.

also one day before you guys got married, our doorbell rang. it was ian. he was passing through and just wanted to stop by.

such a beautiful man who touched so many lives.

I remember watching Ian with Josiah and thinking that I could not wait until I could see my husband hold my child with such love. He adored josiah and was so proud to be a dad!

He was such a good friend for Jason. I always wondered how they ever got any work done in the office!

Ian was my father, brother, and friend. I miss him a lot still. There are a lot of memories of Ian that I have. Here are just a few.

When I was in 1st or 2nd grade and Ian was in middle school, Ian and I had to walk to school on probably one of the coldest days that I can remember. It was something like 10 degrees outside. (We lived what seemed like a mile from our schools). On the way to school I got so cold that Ian and I had to stop in an apartment on the way to school. So as result of this Ian more than likely missed his first class and I was late to school. Ian always protected me. Years later I would write a children's book about this and us growing up. I still remember giving it to him. :)

I remember playing 21 in the driveway almost everyday. Ian was decked out in his headband and knee socks. I don't think I ever beat him but it was a blast.

The final memory of Ian I have was when we last spoke to one another. It was 4 days prior to his death. About a week before that I had made the decision to move in with him and Christi. That excitement in his voice was something that I will always remember. When we last spoke, Ian just called me to tell me about schools. He was so enthused and was giving me so much good information about schools in the area. I don't remember what I said to him last but I know that I had more to say.

Ian always called me on my birthday every year and sang me happy birthday over the phone. It always made me smile.

I love Ian so much for all that he did for me. Ian lead me to christ at a young age and for that I'm grateful.

In college, Ian drew me a sign for my office that said "Tore up from the floor up." This should surprise no one since he always had some gangster talk to share. Anyway, we found out later that the phrase actually means you're ugly, but I kept it up at work because it made me laugh.

Ian was a very loving and tender man.
I remember the tears that trickled down his cheeks when he made his vows to Christi on their wedding day. Similar tears of joy were shed in the delivery room as he watched, in amazement, the birth of his son. I have some awesome pictures, that capture his joy, that I love to look at! He was so proud to cut the umbilical cord.
The pictures of him holding Josiah for the first time are so moving. I'll never forget how, after the medical staff was done with their business, he had us gather around Josiah and he prayed and dedicated him to the Lord right there in the birthing room.
When it was time for bed and Christi would take Josiah to Ian to "tell Daddy goodnight" Ian would lay Josiah on his chest, wrap his arms around him and pray over him.
He celebrated Josiah's accomplishments, his first steps, the high fives when he got his "big boy" bed, mastering eating corn off the cob.
The way he loved Christi was so apparent.
He stayed up almost all night making her a very thoughtful Mother's Day gift from him and Josiah one year.
He lived OUT LOUD!
Any one that knew Ian knew that He loved his God, he loved his wife, he loved his son and that he was a faithful friend!
He is missed!

He was SOOOO proud of Christi. We were chatting once and I said I was so pleased that Christi was singing a solo w/ the choir on Easter -- he said, "Oh, she has the MOST beautiful voice". And while our choir sang on Easter morning, I specifically remember seeing Ian in the crowd, literally GLOWING with pride, watching his wife sing her part.

I was always glad to hang out with Christi & Ian at the American Family events. Especially the one in Colorado!

One funny thing I remember was when Ian & Christi were looking for a church home in Overland Park. He said the pastor told him that "he had beautiful eyes" -- and that totally icked Ian out! He said he was thinking, "Dude, you don't say that to another dude!" But for the record, he DID have beautiful eyes.

Golly! This is an emotional reading for me. I have always considered you, Christie, special to my heart. I have watched you grow from a young girl, dutifully letting me give your weekly allergy shots, to a courageous woman with incredible insight and strength in the Lord. You amaze me. As for a memory of Ian, Randy and I couldn't go through WalMart, no matter how big a hurry we were in without passing by Ian's Kiosk when he was at the phone area. He was always happy to see us and made our day cheerier. He always had a smile and something funny to say. I also think of him walking through GBC with Josiah, so proud of his little man. He was a great Daddy, a man Josiah can be proud of. Who didn't love him?

I remember Ian singing in the sound booth during Praise & Worship practice and doing the clapping part to "Shine, Jesus, Shine." Truly, Jesus shone through him.
